About Us

“Everything is a resource for something else. In nature, the ‘waste’ of one system becomes food for another. Everything can be designed to be disassembled and safely returned to the soil’’

-Cradle to Cradle

're:kala' stands for a reimagined way of looking at clothing, artisanal craft, design and exploring the connection between them.

THE CLOTHING : We work with craft communities in India to come up with small batches of collections that also include minimal or zero-waste pieces. Leftover fabric offcuts are then used to recreate different items. Our fabrics are made from biodegradable fibers with a continuous effort of exploring more eco-conscious alternatives. We also use natural dyes for our solid pieces, while azo-free/ natural dyes or pigments are used in the artisanal pieces depending on the craft and local resources available in that region.

The Clothing is further segregated into two sections : 'Handcrafted' and 'Solids'

We have also partnered with CTG (Cool The Globe) in undertaking initiatives to offset the carbon footprint created and we plan on expanding our role and contribution in this space.

THE OBJECTS : Every collection we come up with at re:kala, is intertwined with and includes a small series of objects. This is either the starting point of inspiration for the collection or a story that lives in the background or even a musing that shows up towards the closing. THE OBJECTS is a way for the founder to get in touch with the feelings behind every thought and concept, in an effort to create a tangible form out of it.
